In regards to the picture above - my husband found these in a box next to one of the neighborhood little libraries near our apartment. He sent me a picture and I was all GIMME NOW NOW NOW. I’ve already read through three or four of them.
Some of these I have a submitted stories to, most of these are not easy to get published in.
I haven’t had anything accepted recently. What I have done is tweaked my three memoir pieces to death -”My Mother’s Dark Side”, “Tales of the Re Gift”, and “Uptown Again” and have been submitting them where appropriate. Fingers crossed? One is a not very nice memory of my mother, one is a slightly humorous and sarcastic take on regifting and one is a nice trip down memory lane about my bar hopping days in the Dark Ages of the late 1980s.
I continue to get rejects about “Last Human at the Bar”. 50 submissions so far and (checks notes) 37 rejects. There’s about 10 more places I want to try, but 6 of those don’t open unti October. The other ones don’t say when they will open up again to submissions.
I don’t subscribe to lit mag news letters and I’ve gotten picky about who I follow on Bluesky. I get enough email as it is, and don’t care to be spammed with lit mag emails. (Sorry not sorry. To each his/her own, right?)
Baseball season is almost over, I’ve got about 14 games left to work. (Ok yes, there are more than 14 home games for the team I work for to play. But I’m not stupid or suicidal enough to work the remaining, what 25 home games?)
My Vegas trip is in just under 2 1/2 months. I still need to get my REAL ID (I AM the Procrastination Queen), after tomorrow’s game, there’s a concert at the ball park to work otherwise I’m off until Labor Day.
As always, thanks for reading. I’m still honestly debating about sticking around on this platform.
Love the cats!
